Use the Start Menu

The first and foremost way to restart a PC is to use a Start menu. It is considered to be a simple and easy way that lets you put a PC to sleep as well as shut down a PC. To do so, follow the simple steps:

  1. Head to the Start menu (either tap a Start menu icon (the Windows 11 logo) placed at the lower-left corner or press a Windows key on a keyboard)
  2. Now, from the bottom-left corner, tap the “Power” icon (a circle with a line through a top)
  3. Finally, tap the Restart from a list of options 

Hence, a PC will turn off automatically and turn back on.

Another way to restart a PC is to right-click a Start menu and then, follow the simple steps:

  1. Right-click the Start menu icon (four squares at an angle) placed at the bottom-left corner on a screen
  2. Now, from a menu that opens up, choose the Shutdown or Sign Out option > then, tap Restart’

Hence, your PC will reboot automatically and work more efficiently.

Use Command Prompt

The last but not least method to restart a PC is via Command Prompt. To do so, follow the simple steps:

  • Head to the Start menu and search the Command prompt in a search bar, click it
  • On a Command prompt window, enter the following command and press Enter: 
shutdown -r
  • A prompt will pop up on a screen, choose the Close option

Hence, your PC will restart in 60 seconds and operate more efficiently than before.
