You can clear the recent files list by following the simple steps given below:

  1. Head to the Adobe Photoshop tool and tap “File” placed on the top left side in a menu bar
  2. Choose the Recent from a list that appears on a screen
  3. In a small menu that opens up, tap the “Clear Recent File List” option

Hence, your recent files list is erased and you can’t see recently opened in the File menu or on the “Home” screen when opening Photoshop at first. But, new files will be added to a list when you open them. However, if you want to hide them then, proceed to the next section. 

Hide the Recent File List in Photoshop

You can hide the recent file list in this tool by following the simple steps mentioned below:

  1. Head to the Adobe Photoshop tool and tap “Edit” placed on the top left corner 
  2. Choose the Preferences from a list that appears on a screen
  3. Now, tap the “File Handling” option placed in the menu
  4. A new window will open up, look at the bottom of a window and set the “Recent File List Contains” option to a number “0” (zero) via a text box placed beside it.
  5. Finally, tap “OK” to save your changes and then, close the Preferences window

Now, you won’t see a list of recently opened files placed in a File menu or on a Home screen.

Note: Photoshop still keeps track of recently-opened files, even if you can’t see them listed. Well, if you change “Recent File List Contains” to another number other than 0, recently opened files will appear again.
