If you want to embed a YouTube video in Google Slides, you first have to get that video’s web link (URL). To do so, head to the YouTube > now, open the video you want to upload in slide > finally, copy the link that appears in your web browser’s address bar. However, start the video embed process by firstly opening the browser on a PC and following the simple steps given below:

  1. Head to the Google Slider and select a presentation in which you want to add a video.
  2. On the left sidebar, choose a slide where you want to embed a video.
  3. Now, on the top left side, choose the Insert option placed next to View.
  4. Tap the video option from a list that appears on a screen.
  5. Choose the By URL option to embed a video via the web link. Alternatively, use a “Search” tab where you can find & select a video.
  6. Tap the “Paste YouTube URL Here” field and paste a video’s link into it (use the Ctrl + V (Windows) or Command + V (Mac) shortcut to paste a link).
  7. When done, you will see your video’s preview, confirm to embed this video and then, at the bottom of a window, tap “Select”.
  8. Now, your video is embedded, and to change the video’s size on the slide, drag the handlers available around the border of a video.
  9. Use the “Format Options” sidebar placed on the right side to customize how a video plays. In this sidebar, use the “Video Playback” section to control the playback of an embedded video. 

The options in this section include

  • Play (On Click): To make a video play only when you click, tap this option.
  • Play (Automatically): To make a video play automatically when a slide comes, tap this option.
  • Start At: If you want a video to play at a specified time, enter that time here. For E.g. enter “02:00” to make a video start at 2 minutes.
  • Play (Manual): If you’d only like a video when you manually want to play it, tap this option.
  • End At: With this option, you can choose a timestamp where a video stops playing.
  • Mute Audio: If you don’t want a video’s sound in your presentation, tap this option

Also, you can change the options available in other sections i.e., “Size & Rotation,” “Position,” and “Drop Shadow”. However, this app saves changes automatically so, you are not required to do anything to ensure your video sticks in the presentation.
