Also, there might be a reason that you don’t want to share content with that person because it contains some private information that is not for him.

When you click the address bar of Gmail before sending an email then, later you realize that you have to add something to it. Either it is an attachment, an important link, or some other details. Well, it is not considered convenient when sending it separately in another message. 

An email has mistakes when being sent

Mistakes are something that might occur accidentally. We all are humans and without making mistakes we can’t learn anything. Enable the Undo Send Feature in Gmail

Undo Send is a feature of Gmail that enables you to unsend an email in Gmail. By default this feature is turned off so, you have to enable it first to utilize this feature. To do so, follow the steps given below:

  1. Open your Gmail and log in to it
  2. Select the gear icon placed in the upper right corner of a window to open the settings
  3. Select the see all settings option
  4. Click the General tab, check the undo send option for the list and select the range of a maximum of 30 seconds
  5. Scroll down and select the Save Changes option

However, when enabled you can now be able to unsend the email for almost 30 seconds after hitting the Send button. In case, if you realize that you forget something after sending an email.  

Unsend an Email in Gmail

When after sending an email, you realize that you want to cancel it then, there are a few ways to do it. It depends on whether you are using a PC or smartphone. 

How to Unsend an Email on a PC

If you are using Gmail on a PC then, follow the steps to unsend the email given below:

  1. After hitting send option, search for a menu bar placed at the left bottom of a screen
  2. Select the Undo option from a menu bar
  3. There appears a sending undone prompt on a screen which shows the email is successfully canceled

However, if you didn’t receive a confirmation message then, you might not have canceled within 30 seconds. You can also whether that email is present in the sent option or not to confirm this. Well, after getting a confirmation message then, you will get back an email on a screen. You can make changes to it before sending it again.

How to Unsend an Email via Gmail Shortcut

As there are 30 seconds in which you have to decide whether you have to keep that email with you or want to cancel it. You can use a keyboard shortcut to unsend an email with just only a single click. Well, after sending it, a menu bar appears then, click the Z button of a keyboard to undo sending the email. Now, the same sending undone confirmation message appears on a screen. Also, keep in mind this will only work when you have enabled the keyboard shortcuts option in Gmail. You can also do this by clicking the general tab > then, settings option > enable Undo send feature. 

How to Unsend an Email in Gmail on a Smartphone

You can also unsend an email in Gmail via smartphone. To do so, follow the steps given below:

  1. After hitting the send option, select the Undo option that appears on a bottom of a screen
  2. There appears a confirmation of cancelation of an email. 

However, Gmail will take you back to the original email so that you can edit or delete it or again sent it after making corrections.
