ROMs are digital devices and duplicates of games cartridges while emulators are the applications that are used to stimulate the games consoles. For Pokemon games, you need a separate emulator for each game on your PC. These emulators include Game Boy, Game Boy Advance, Game Boy Color, and Nintendo DS. Well, online ROMs can be used via an online emulator to play these games without downloading them.

How To Install An Emulator For Pokemon

If you are a fan of playing Pokemon games online and you want to play the official games of these series, there are two possible ways to have access to these games. Firstly, you either have to Nintendo DS emulator for playing the games (2006 till 2017) or you have to use a Game Boy emulator for playing the Pokemon games online (before 2006). So, you can have a choice between the two options.

To play the Pokemon games on PCs, there are still two components. The first component is to have an emulator software that can simulate the operating system and software of the Game Play emulator. A second option to play the Pokemon games on your PC is to play them on an emulator. For this, you have to install a good emulator to enjoy playing these games. I will suggest VBA-M because it is open-source and is often updated.

How To Play Nintendo DS Pokemon Games On PC

After Gameboy, Nintendo DS was the platform featuring the best Pokemon games. I remember when I first played Pokemon Diamond and Peral, I was blown away by the graphics. I switched from Pokemon Emerald and the difference in the quality was huge. Though my PC was not powerful enough to run it smoothly, still it was a good experience.

Nowadays, people have such powerful PCs that they can run any game without lag or stuttering. Since single-player PC games are getting high and brilliant graphics, running a console game on a PC is a piece of cake.

To play a Nintendo DS game on your PC, you’ll need an emulator first. There is no way you can ever run a console game without a dedicated emulator. There are tons of DS emulators available, but we recommend the deSmuME. This is the only emulator out there that is stable and gets frequent updates.

Are Pokemon Games officially available for PC?

Yes, there are a couple of Pokemon games that you can play without an Emulator. There are some official releases from Nintendo that are playable directly on PC. Some are available from third-party developers but if you are a fan of Pokemon games, you’ll love them.

Pokemon Trading Card Game

I used to have hundreds of Pokemon Card back in 2007-08, it was quite a fun thing to collect them and trade them with friends. The only problem was to find the rare cards since only a handful of friends were doing this with me. But now, things are quite different, you can easily trade cards with anyone around the world. Visit the website and you’ll receive a code you can use to open a pack online. Once your deck is assembled, you can challenge your friends, online strangers, or the AI for Pokemon battles. The developer keeps releasing new cards and other stuff to keep the game interesting. The winner can take one card or the entire deck of the loser if he/she wants.

PokeMMO – Unofficial

PokeMMO game is loved by its fan and hence, made an unofficial game that is completely free to play. More than one player is allowed to play this game and you can have a chance to meet new players all over the globe. There are a number of missions to defeat the gym leaders which makes this game more interesting and enjoyable. You can also have a chance to trade Pokemon and have other battles too. This game also combines the four different regions and tries to bring all those Pokemon from these regions with it and also, uses the same graphics.

This is by far the best Pokemon game that is available on PC and not an official release. You’ll love how the graphics resemble the Nintendo version of the game. You can play it online with people around the world. The noticeable thing is that the world in this game is bigger than any other Pokemon game. You can catch and train hundreds of Pokemon from different regions, challenge players and make your way to the top. You can even evolve them like how you do in the official games. The option to make a clan is also available, and then you can raid other clans and take their precious Pokemon.

While you can play Pokemon console games on a PC, still they are more entertaining on their specific console. One reason is that you can easily trade region-locked, or game-specific Pokemon with others. Some Pokemon require trading for evolution and trading is not possible using a PC. Moreover, to complete the Pokedex, you need all the Pokemon and some Pokemon are impossible to find without cheats or trading.

So, how do you like your Pokemon games, on a PC or on a Console, do share your thoughts with us.
